Lohan Sent back to Jail

Lindsay Lohanis headed back to jail a third time– and this may be the longest stay – after failing a mandatory drug test.

Judge Fox decided to deny bail for the actress given her past arrests and actions. This will be her third time spending time in jail; the original charges were filed in 2007 for driving drunk as well as multiple drug charges.

Both times she has been given jail time Lohan has been released due to“overcrowding.” The longest she has spent in jail was 14 days, which is not even one quarter of the 90 days she was sentenced to. Earlier this year a judge stated in a hearing that Lohan would receive 1 month in jail for each drug test she skipped or failed. This is her first failed test since then, so it is unknown whether she will actually receive a full month. It is also likely that she will once again be released early due to overcrowding.

Lohan, 24, said nothing and looked stunned as she stood, was handcuffed and led away by sheriff's deputies out a side door. She was crying as she was placed in an unmarked police car and driven toward the women's jail in Lynwood, Calif.

Lohan tested dirty about three weeks after being released early from inpatient rehab at UCLA Medical Center on Aug. 24.

"This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences,"she Tweeted last week.

She previously completed 13 full days of a 30-day sentence in a Lynwood, Calif., jail on Aug. 2 after she violated probation in her DUI case.

Peter Jackson Threatens to Shut Down Hobbit

Peter Jacksonhas warned that production on The Hobbit movies could cease over a pay wrangle with acting unions.

The Lord of the Rings director, who is the films' executive producer, said it faced being shut down or moved from its location in his native New Zealand.

In an open letter, Jackson said shifting the entire project to eastern Europe"could so easily happen".

Unions have urged actors not to work on the films due to the dispute.

A number of organisations based in the UK, Canada, Australia and the US have said the The Hobbit's producers have refused to negotiate a deal with them.

The International Federation of Actors said it was time for performers on The Hobbit to seek union contracts, adding that actors in New Zealand have"struggled on non-union contracts for some time".

Jackson said the wrangle was a"grab for power"and"an attempt by the"Australian bully-boy" to exert influence over New Zealand's film industry."

"It feels as if we have a large Aussie cousin kicking sand in our eyes... Or to put it another way, opportunists exploiting our film for their own political gain."

"Seriously, if the Hobbit goes east (Eastern Europe in fact) - look forward to a long, dry big-budget movie drought in this country,"added the film-maker.

Jackson said that he is not anti-union and"has always attempted to treat my actors and crew with fairness and respect".

He pointed out that Hobbit actors with no union representation are part of a profit-sharing pool.

The director made all three of the Lord of the Rings films and his screen adaptation of The Lovely Bones using New Zealand locations.

Jackson is expected to become the films' director after the departure of Guillermo del Toro due to concerns over delays - although a formal announcement has yet to be made.

Phoenix to Letterman:"I apologise"

Joaquin Phoenixpublicly apologised to US talkshow host David Letterman on Wednesday when he returned to America's Late Show and revealed all about his odd antics on the programme last year.

The Walk The Line star appeared dishevelled and uncomfortable as he attempted to promote what he claimed would be his final film, Two Lovers, on the show in 2009.

He evoked the presenter's wrath by refusing to remove his sunglasses for the studio interview and chewing gum as he spoke.

Phoenix's brother-in-law, director Casey Affleck, has since admitted the appearance was part of an elaborate"social experiment"stunt he had been filming for his new documentary I'm Still Here, about the actor's spoof efforts to become a rapper.

Appearing on the show for the first time since the incident, Phoenix told Letterman that he was sorry for his behaviour, which was since confirmed to be an act for his mock documentaryI'm Still Here (2010).

Phoenix told the host on Wednesday's Late Show:"I think that you've interviewed many, many people, and I assumed that you would know the difference between a character and a real person - but I apologise. I hope I didn't offend you in any way."

"Oh no. Oh no, no, no,"Letterman replied."I'm telling you, it was so much fun. It was batting practice, you know what I mean? Every one of them was a dinger."

The comedian also denied suggestions that he was in on the hoax.

"Was there a script that you and I were working with?"he asked Phoenix, to which the actor responded:"No. We'd hoped to come on a talkshow, and I was looking for a beat down, and I got one... I want to thank you for that."

Lindsay Lohan could be back behind

Lindsay Lohan could be back behind bars on Friday. U.S. actress did not pass a doping test and could be back behind bars for violating terms of probation which was granted recently on her conviction for drunken driving, the press reported on Friday in Los Angeles. The girl, 24, who was discharged in August of a medical center for rehabilitation and after serving just three weeks to six months imprisonment to which he was convicted of drunken driving, failed a cocaine control Last week, reported the news agency. On Friday, media reported no direct comments from Lohan or their representatives, but Magazine said her reaction to the reports was:"I'm fine (...) They're all crazy."

A source told website RadarOnline:"Lindsay could be remanded directly into custody on Friday, pending the probation violation hearing, and it's very likely that Judge Fox will do that. Lindsay was allowed to remain out on bail last time until her probation violation hearing, but Judge Fox probably won't give her that privilege because of her failed drug test, and this is her second probation violation hearing in less than three months."

By remanding her directly to custody, Lindsay would stay behind bars until the probation violation hearing, she wouldn't allowed to get out early. The probation violation hearing could be set for the following week, or as much as 30 days from now. If it's set for 30 days from now, Lindsay will remain behind bars during that time if that is what Judge Fox decides."

The 'Mean Girls' star - who tested positive for having both cocaine and amphetamines in her system - recently spent time in jail and rehab for failing to comply with the terms of her probation for a 2007 driving under influence (DUI) conviction.

Quaids Arrested Over New Burglary Charges

Troubled actorRandy Quaidand his wife Evi have been arrested and charged with burglary amid allegations they have been illegally squatting in the house they called home.

The star, along with his wife Evi, claimed the Santa Barbara property still belonged to them when the current owners alerted police that squatters were living there.

But when cops turned up to investigate, they found Randy and Evi Quaid at the door - with the pair insisting they had owned the home since the 1990s.

Agents responsible for the house also claimed that $5,000 (£4,170) worth of damage was caused by the couple.

Quaid's wife faces an additional charge of resisting arrest.

The property's owners produced documents which showed they had purchased the house in 2007 from a man who had bought it from the Quaids several years before.

The 59-year-old star, who is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid, was held in prison overnight with his wife. Bail of $50,000 each (£31,990) was set for the pair.

Earlier this year, Evi Quaid was put on probation for three years and ordered to perform community service after she admitted defrauding a hotel by using an invalid credit card to settle a $10,000 (£6,400) bill.

Charges against her husband were dropped, while the bill was repaid.

The pair had been briefly imprisoned after turning up to a court hearing two weeks late.

Quaid is best known for his roles in Brokeback Mountain and National Lampoon's Vacation, while he won a Golden Globe award for playing President Lyndon Johnson in LBJ: The Early Years.

Paris Hilton avoids prison

A US judge has givenParis Hiltona one-year, suspended sentence after she pleaded guilty to drug possession and obstructing a police officer.

The 29-year-old socialite was also fined $2,000 (£1,280), and ordered to do 200 hours of community service.

Ms Hilton was arrested shortly before midnight on Las Vegas Boulevard after police pulled over a vehicle in which she was a passenger. The male driver of the car was arrested on DUI drug charges. Hilton's purse also contained a bag with .8 grams of cocaine.

Arriving in the courtroom shortly before the judge, and wearing a white blouse and black pencil skirt, Hilton sat in the front row, looking solemn and speaking on briefly to her attorney, David Chesnoff.

After the hearing, the attorney told reporters:"She was treated like anyone else would be treated under the circumstances, and I'm very proud of the way she's dealt with this. I think she's on the road to success and I wish her personally the best."

She faces a year in jail if she is arrested in Las Vegas in the next year.

Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure told Ms Hilton that the purpose of the sentence he handed down was"that you change your conduct".

"The Clark County Detention Center is not the Waldorf-Astoria,"he warned, referring to the famous hotel in New York where Ms Hilton lived during her childhood and which was once owned by her family.

Ms Hilton could have been jailed for up to four years on the cocaine possession charge, but she agreed a plea deal with prosecutors.

She was charged with obstruction because she initially told police the purse and cocaine were not hers.

Her lawyer, David Chesnoff, told reporters that she would attend an outpatient substance abuse treatment programme.

"I know Ms Hilton is contrite and accepts the responsibility for her actions,"he said."She was treated like anybody else would be treated under the circumstances."

Ms Hilton spent 23 days in jail in Los Angeles in 2007 for violating probation on an alcohol-related reckless driving charge.

Affleck: 'Phoenix documentary is fake'

Casey Affleckhas admitted that theJoaquin PhoenixdocumentaryI'm Still Here (2010)is fictitious.

The authenticity of the film, which follows Phoenix over the course of a year as he attempts to become a hip hop artist, had previously been shrouded in mystery.

However, despite recently insisting that the movie was not a hoax, Affleck has now admitted that the film and Phoenix's change of career were indeed fake.

He made the admission to the New York Times, adding:"It's a terrific performance; it's the performance of his career. I never intended to trick anybody. The idea of a 'hoax' never entered my mind."

Affleck, who made his directorial debut with the picture, said that most of the film was not real - including the opening shots of Phoenix apparently swimming with his siblings in Panama, which were actually shot in Hawaii with actors.

"There were multiple takes, these are performances,"he continued."We wanted to create a space. You believe what’s happening is real."

He also acknowledged that Phoenix's infamous interview on The Late Show with David Letterman last year was all part of the act, although he insisted that Letterman himself was not in on the secret.

Phoenix is to appear on the chat show again next week, and Affleck revealed that his long-time friend would not be appearing in character this time.

I'm Still Here received a limited release in the US last week, and opens in UK cinemas today.

Casey Affleck Settles Sexual Harassment Case

Casey Affleckhas settled out of court with two women who filed sexual-harassment lawsuits against him for alleged incidents on the set of I'm Still Here, Affleck's documentary about his brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix.

Producer Amanda White and cinematographer Magdalena Gorka had sued for $2m and $2.25m respectively, claiming they were subjected to outrageous behaviour while working on the film. White also said Affleck had broken a verbal agreement to pay her $50,000. Both women will now receive due credit for their work on the project, though no details of any financial settlement have been released.

White's original allegations included claims that Affleck hired transvestite prostitutes"for his personal gratification"during filming, referred to women as"cows", manhandled her when she rejected his sexual advances and instructed a camera operator to flash his genitals at her on several occasions. Gorka claimed she was subjected to a"near daily barrage of sexual comments, innuendo and unwelcome advances"by crew members, encouraged by Affleck.

Affleck vehemently denied the allegations and threatened to countersue after the two women first made their claims. But the two sides held a mediation a few weeks ago that eventually led to the settlement, the LA Times reports. According to a spokesperson for Affleck, the dispute has been resolved to the mutual satisfation of both parties and the lawsuits have been dismissed.

Garfield: 'I identify with Spider-Man'

Andrew Garfieldhas revealed that he identifies with Spider-Man because of the superhero's vulnerability and small stature.

The actor is to play the web-slinging hero in the character's upcoming big screen reboot.

Garfield told The AP that the key to the Marvel Comics superhero's appeal is that he is easy for the public to relate to.

"His youth, his relatability, his struggle. He was just this skinny boy,"he said."He was a skinny boy who felt stronger on the inside than he looked on the outside, and I related to it immediately, and it stayed with me as I grew up."

The star added that he is truly honoured to be a part of the character's esteemed mythology.

He explained:"Every single generation of the comic, the cartoons and the movies, it all means a great deal to me. It was always something that gave me hope as a skinny little kid whose sense of injustice about the world didn't match his sense of strength about his body."

"I found it so inspiring and uplifting and reassuring. To be a part of that mythology and that legacy is a true honour."

The Spider-Man reboot is to be released in US cinemas in July 2012.

Resident Evil: Afterlife devours fall's first weekend.

It was a zombified weekend at the box office, in more ways than one.Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)was the only movie to show any real signs of life, opening at No. 1 in 3,202 theaters with $27.7 million, according to early estimates. It’s a record debut for the based-on-a-videogame zombie franchise.

The 3-D film certainly benefitted from higher 3-D ticket prices, which helped boost the four-quel to one of the best-ever openings for a post-Labor Day weekend. This year’s first fall weekend was no exception— the next six films’ three-day gross combined still can’t quite equal Resident Evil: Afterlife‘s debut figure.

Leading that enfeebled pack was, surprisingly, the heist thriller Takers with $6.1 million, just a 44 percent drop from its three-day take last weekend for a $48.1 million total. With the top two films this weekend, it’s a good day indeed over at Sony/Screen Gems.

Last weekend’s winner, The American, weathered bad word-of-mouth and slipped to third, dropping 55 percent from last weekend with $5.9 million and $28.3 million total. Machete suffered an even worse decline, falling 63 percent to fourth place, with just $4.2 million for the weekend and $20.8 million total. In fifth place, the underperforming romantic comedy Going the Distance finally posted a somewhat decent number, dropping only 44 percent with $3.8 million for fifth place. It’s grossed $14 million total over ten days.

Rounding out the rest of the box office: The Other Guys jumped to sixth, laughing up $3.6 million (a tiny 32 percent decline), for $112.7 million total. The Last Exorcism fell to seventh, sinking another 53 percent with $3.5 million and $38.2 million total. In eighth, The Expendables brought in another $3.3 million, a 51 percent drop for a $98.5 million cume. Inception continued its slow trickle down the charts, sliding just 34 percent to ninth place with a $3.0 million gross and $282.4 millon total. And in 10th, Eat Pray Love cooked up $2.9 million, a 40 percent drop. Over 31 days, it’s made $74.6 million, hardly a hefty sum for one-time box office queen Julia Roberts.

Spears denies sexual harassment lawsuit

Pop starBritney Spearson Thursday denied accusations by a former bodyguard that she caused him emotional distress by repeatedly parading herself around in the nude and having sex in front of him.

A statement posted Thursday on the 28-year-old pop star's website, said she and her lawyers expected a sexual harassment lawsuit filed on Wednesday by the bodyguard, Fernando Flores, to be dismissed.

"This lawsuit is another unfortunate situation where someone is trying to take advantage of the Spears family and make a name for himself,"the statement said.

Flores filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking unspecified damages and accused Spears of causing him emotional distress by also having violent quarrels with her boyfriend in front of her two children, and swearing at him to fetch her beverages.

"The Department of Children and Family Services conducted a proper investigation surrounding Mr. Flores' accusations and have closed the case without any further action,"the Spears' statement said.

Spears, who lives in Los Angeles, recently filmed a cameo role in an episode of TV musical comedy"Glee,"after a successful world tour in 2009.

Martin Freeman reconsidering 'Hobbit' role?

Martin Freeman could be back in the running to star as Bilbo Baggins in the forthcoming Hobbit movies.

It was earlier reported that Freeman decline an offer (and seven-figure payday) to play Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit movies due to a scheduling conflict.

The actor was already committed to shoot the BBC series Sherlock, in which he plays Dr. Watson. That’s all true, but according to sources close to the Hobbit production, it’s not over yet. New Line and MGM, the studios backing the Hobbit films, have since come back to Freeman with a proposed schedule that would allow him to shoot both projects. All parties are currently negotiating a deal.

The studios and the actor are currently negotiating the new deal.

Ian Holm played Bilbo in director Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films.

Natalie Portman May Take Over for Angelina Jolie in 'Gravity'

Natalie Portman's highly praised, tortured turn inBlack Swan (2010)could send her career into a new galaxy.

As Darren Aronofsky's psychological thriller rallied audiences at the Venice and Telluride film festivals last week, Portman has fielded an offer from Warner Bros. to play the coveted lead in the drama 'Gravity,' a role recently vacated byAngelina Jolie.

The $80 million 3D survival story centres on a woman stranded on a space station after satellite debris slams into it and wipes out the rest of the crew.Robert Downey Jralready has committed to a supporting role, but much of the picture is devoted to the female character, who must survive a solitary ordeal much in the wayTom Hanksdid in 'Cast Away' or James Franco does in '127 Hours,' another Telluride sneak screening.

Alfonso Cuaron, who will direct from a script he wrote with his son Jonas, got the green light from the studio to relay the offer to Portman without requiring a screen test. She is expected to read the latest version of the script this week and decide shortly.

Although Cuaron, Downey and the studio have juggled multiple potential stars, including Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively, none has come up all cherries. But the role now is Portman's if she feels up for it. As an added benefit to the studio, even with a nice raise, her salary would only come in at about half of Jolie's.

'Gravity' is slated to shoot at the end of January, before Downey goes off to other engagements.

Portman already has three projects on their way to theatres: the Paramount romantic comedy"No Strings"in January, the Universal comedy"Your Highness"in April and the Marvel/Paramount comic book actioner"Thor"in May.

But it is her turn as the ambitious but psychologically fragile ballet dancer in"Swan,"a role she developed with Aronofsky for years, that has wowed studios and filmmakers scrambling to cast her.

Scuttlebutt at Telluride after its first screenings is that, based solely on"Swan"reviews during the previous few days, Terrence Malick wants Portman for a Jerry Lee Lewis-related project he's developing with Brad Pitt, and Tom Stoppard ("Shakespeare in Love") also apparently is writing something for her. This is in addition to widespread opinion that Portman will be fielding major awards attention at year's end. Fox Searchlight will release"Swan"on December 1.

Freeman Snubs Hobbit For Sherlock Holmes'

Martin Freemanhas reportedly turned down a lead role in The Hobbit - so he can continue playing Sherlock Holmes' sidekick on TV.

The Love Actually star was approached to appear in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic novel but was forced to reject the offer because he is still under contract to play Dr Watson on the BBC's series Sherlock.

A source tells The Sun,"It was one of the most difficult decisions of his career. MGM, who are making the film, only got a formal offer over in the last couple of weeks."

"It was too late for Martin because he had already signed up for another series of Sherlock. It was agonising but he had no other choice."

DirectorPeter Jacksonis said to be searching for an unknown to take the role.

Peter Jackson has been reported being approached to replace Guillermo del Toro to serve behind the lens, the issue has not been confirmed yet. Jackson, meanwhile, is writing the script for the movie along with del Toro, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.

'The Hobbit', which will re-create the scenes of the novel with additional events that make an impact to 'The Lords of the Rings', will be split into two parts. The first part is is expected to arrive in December 2012, while 'The Hobbit 2' will come out a year later. The two films are allegedly planned to be shot back-to-back in New Zealand.

Grint 'feared Ron Weasley death'

Rupert Grinthas revealed that he put off reading Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows out of fear that his character would die.

The Cherrybomb actor, who stars as Ron Weasley in the film adaptations of JK Rowling's books, told Empire of his concern that the nine years he spent playing the character would come to a tragic end.

He said:"I think I was the last person to read it. I don't know why I didn't, because I'm a big fan of the books, I've read them all. But I was nervous because I'd been hearing so much about characters dying and not making it through to the end. And I wanted Ron to survive!"

Grint also reiterated his previous claim that he was ready to say goodbye to the Harry Potter universe after wrapping up filming of the two-part conclusion to the series.

"Part of me doesn't really want it to end, because I've loved it and it's been a huge part of my life, that routine. But in the same way, it's been ten years of solid filmmaking, so it's nice to have a bit of freedom. Yeah, just be free."

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part One is due for release on November 19.

Natalie Portman thriller opens Venice Film Festival

Natalie Portmangraced the red carpet for the premiere of her latest filmBlack Swan (2010), which had the honour of opening the Venice Film Festival.

The US actress was joined by the film's director Darren Aronofsky, who won the Italian film festival's top prize in 2008 for The Wrestler.

This year's jury, which awards the Golden Lion trophy, is headed byQuentin Tarantino.

Some 79 movies are expected to premiere over the festival's 11-day run.

The Golden Lion will be fought over by 22 films from directors around the world, although no British films will be vying for the prize.

Speaking on the opening day, Inglourious Basterds director Tarantino said:"I love being on juries. I've yet to find it difficult, but I've always ended up being with, not like-minded, but passion-minded artists every time I've done it."

"I love the idea, what I love about being on the jury is, I love seeing a whole bunch of new movies from all over the world. I have no real idea about what to expect."

"I might have an idea about an actor in it, or the director in it or something, but I really don't know what to expect and it's all over the world there and so usually when you watch the movie, you don't know what you're going to see until it starts playing and it either grabs you or it doesn't."

Other films in the main competition include Sophia Coppola's Somewhere, Julian Schnabel's Miral, starring Freida Pinto andWillem Dafoe, and France's Francois Ozon's Potiche, which features Gerard Depardieu andCatherine Deneuve.

Aronofsky has called the film a companion piece to The Wrestler, which saw its star Mickey Rourke nominated for a best actor Oscar.

Paula Patton has landed the lead female role in the fourth Mission: Impossible movie.

The Precious actress, who held off competition from Lauren German and Smallville's Kristin Kreuk to win the part, will play a young operative who works withTom Cruise's secret agent Ethan Hunt.

There aren’t that many details about the role yet, though according to Deadline, Patton will be playing a young operative who works as part of Ethan Hunt (Cruise)’s M:I team.

Looks like Patton, last seen in Just Wright and Precious, will be working alongside Jeremy Renner, who now appears to be a lock as a fellow younger agent .

Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg are also among the cast for the movie, which will jettison the Mission: Impossible 4 title and rebrand the spy series.

The film is set to begin production in the fall for a December 16, 2011 through Paramount. However, the actual story is yet to have been revealed and will likely remain mum should history involving anything J.J. Abrams is involved in be any indicator.

M:I 4 was penned by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec based on a story hatched by Abrams and Cruise. As far as sticking to the tone and developing story of the first three films that's entirely up in the air it seems as it has also been rumored Paramount may not even title the film using Mission: Impossible.

Paris Hilton Charged with Felony Drug Possession

Paris Hilton has been charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Paris Hilton's purse contained .8 grams of cocaine, cigarette wrappers commonly used for marijuana and a broken tablet of Albuterol when she was searched after a traffic stop, according to the police report.

The heiress, 29, was charged with felony cocaine possession following her weekend arrest in Las Vegas. The drug charge carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison if convicted.

Paris was arrested on Friday after police, at about 11:30 P.M., pulled over a Cadillac Escalade in which Paris was a passenger. According to an arrest report, cops smelled"a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle."The driver, Cy Waits, a Las Vegas nightclub mogul and Paris' lover, was taken into custody after failing on field sobriety tests.

The police later found the cocaine after Paris accidentally dropped it from her purse. The arrest report mentioned,"She told me the purse was not hers, and that she had borrowed it from a friend."However, she admitted that a broken tablet of Albuterol, which is commonly prescribed for diseases such as asthma, a $1,300 cash and credit cards in the purse were hers.

"I asked Hilton whose cocaine it was, and she said she had not seen it but now thought it was gum,"the report read. She was later placed under arrest and transported into the Clark County Detention Center, where the white substance was confirmed to be 0.8 grams of cocaine. She was allowed to leave the jail on Saturday morning, August 28 after authorities determined she was not a flight risk.

Moreover, Paris, who's not sweating this at all, is even telling friends,"It could be a setup. Everyone knows how against cocaine I am."She also believes the cops were"star-struck and blew the whole thing way out of proportion."
